Egypt is the largest producer and consumer of pharmaceuticals in the MENA region, with a share of 35% of the MENA market supply of all APIs.

Egyptian health care market of pharmaceuticals accounts for about 12 billion Egyptian pounds in which quarter of this amount (3 billion Egyptian pounds) is spent on importing raw materials.

One third of this amount (one billion Egyptian pounds) is spent on importing active pharmaceutical ingredients and the other 2 billion pounds for inactive pharmaceutical ingredients.
